Dr. Layal Abi Zeid

I knew early on in my life that I wanted to become a doctor. Courses of biology fascinated me and medical doctor was the only career choice I filled in my application. I thank God for having been accepted at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, where I studied for seven years, followed by an OB-GYN residency of two and a half years at Hôtel Dieu de France hospital; I then moved to Paris where I worked at La Pitié-Salpêtrière, the biggest hospital in Europe. The dream came true when I got accepted within Pr. René Frydman’s team – internationally renowned and the first infertility doctor in France. It was then that I met Pr. Ayoubi, Lebanese pioneer, internationally recognized and the first to conduct a uterine transplant in 2019 – I consider myself lucky to have worked with these two professors for many years
My journey taught me a lot; my path introduced me to the best in the field. After 5 years, I discovered that my brain was formatted by the French, but my heart was still laying in Beirut. In 2010, I came back to Lebanon and took on a great opportunity – Head of the IVF department at Clinique du Levant. I was lucky to join also join the CMC women clinic in 2018 whose team is adorable. Not to forget 4 years spent as an infertility consultant at the Lebanese Army Hospital; and being a sexologist, allowing me to help patients with sexual difficulties.
You may have seen me on the TV Show, The Doctors, broadcasted on MTV Lebanon – an exceptional experience that helps raise awareness on general medical topics and going back to natural remedies – (that I apply in my daily routine).
If you want to know what I’m most proud of, my answer without hesitation would be “being a mother”.
My dream (I am calling it a dream as it sometimes seems impossible) is to help all the patients make their motherhood dream come true. Despite the difficulties, I try my best to help them achieve their objectives.
